Messe Frankfurt is expanding its portfolio with a new family member: LightFair® is now part of the international network of Light + Building. In the future, Messe Frankfurt will organize the five-day trade fair and accompanying conference in partnership with the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES). The next edition of the architectural and commercial lighting trade fair will take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center from May 4 to 8, 2025.

Commenting on the partnership, Constantin von Vieregge, President and CEO, Messe Frankfurt Inc., “The signing of this agreement brings together the expertise of Messe Frankfurt, known for its successful track record in organizing world-class trade events; with Light + Building, the world’s leading trade fair for lighting and building technology and the visionary approach of associations, IES and IALD in the realm of commercial lighting. The synergies we share marks a significant step towards advancing the industry and promises an unparalleled platform for industry professionals, innovators, and stakeholders.”

LightFair, North America’s largest architectural and commercial lighting event, brings together more than 500 exhibiting companies and thousands of key buyers nationwide. Focusing on trend-setting innovations and an experience-driven show floor through product discovery, networking and future-forward education, LightFair, sets the standards for lighting design and innovative lighting technology in the United States.

“The IES is very proud to partner in this relaunch of LightFair. We expect our new union with the IALD and Messe Frankfurt to bring in a fresh perspective and cement the show as a must-attend event for everyone in lighting,” stated Colleen Harper, Executive Director, Illuminating Engineering Society. “By bringing together the unique expertise and communities of these three organizations, LightFair will provide the space to learn, network, and innovate in ways not experienced anywhere else.”

For more than two decades, Messe Frankfurt has been organizing Light + Building, an event that covers the entire spectrum from intelligent lighting technology to future-oriented home and building-services technology. Duplicated across the globe from Frankfurt to Dubai, Shanghai, and beyond, the partnership with LightFair brings the Light + Building portfolio around the world to thirteen brand events.

“The IALD is thrilled to partner with Messe Frankfurt for LightFair and is eager to reinvent the international trade show and conference alongside a widely respected event coordinator deeply connected with the lighting industry worldwide,” stated Christopher Knowlton, Chief Executive Officer, IALD. “The partnership will amplify the event’s ability to showcase cutting-edge lighting innovations and connect directly with the lighting community in the United States and beyond. As this next evolution of LightFair opens its doors to broader audiences, the IALD welcomes the fostering of collaboration and inspiration within the lighting industry that will come from this international alliance.”

“The IALD and IES are already trusted partners with us, working in collaboration at our global events from Guangzhou to Dubai, Frankfurt and Buenos Aires,” explains Wolfgang Marzin, President and CEO of Messe Frankfurt GmbH. “For the strong range of products and services in the field of Light + Building Technology trade fairs, the organization of LightFair together with two renowned and experienced partners is an absolute gain."

LightFair is now a part of the Messe Frankfurt’s Light + Building Technology fair portfolio headed by the biennial Light + Building event in Frankfurt, Germany.
